Alexander Strehl was born in Nürnberg, Germany on June 4, 1975, the son of Margit and Dr. Gerhard Strehl. After completing the Abitur in 1994, he entered the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany. He received a Vordiplom in Computer Science there in November 1996 and joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of The University of Texas at Austin in August 1997. He received a M.S.E. in August 1998. During his studies he worked as a research assistant for the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, Inc, as the director of business development for flatfox AG, and as a researcher for Accenture Technology Labs.
